Infantry Captain, Vietnam War

Commissioned after graduating in 1966, Dennis Isom led Company A, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry during Operation Wayne Grey in Vietnam. When a platoon came under heavy fire in the Plei Trap Valley, he rushed forward to reinforce them. While aiding a wounded radio operator, he was killed in action, exemplifying decisive combat leadership.

Silver Star and Purple Heart Recipient, Vietnam

During a 1968 convoy ambush in Vietnam, First Lieutenant David Wilson returned to the kill zone to lead his men to safety despite being out of danger. Mortally wounded while directing their escape, he was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for extraordinary leadership and courage.
